Concept & History

"Youth Hostel"(YH) is the global network of accommodation for young travelers, originated in Germany. YH which is to provide lodging place for anyone who wants to enjoy safe, pleasant and economical traveling extends its network by covering 80 countries all over the world with 4,500 hostels. In Japan, there are about 200 YH throughout the country from Hokkaido to Okinawa, offering accommodation at very reasonable overnight fee.

Self-service Policy

YH basically has the concept of self-service policy. To keep the economical rate for youth travelers, please understand our concept. We ask our guests for the things below.

  • 1. Make up the bed with the sheets provided upon check-in and put into the basket upon check-out.
  • 2. Return the items as it was when you use something in public area.
  • 3. Some amenities like towels are not free. Please bring your own or rent/buy them at the reception.

  • Bunk beds (dormitory)

Since the rooms of our YH are all private, we do not have any dormitory room. However, many YH provide dormitory (sharing) rooms for individual guest. Males and Females are separated in Japan.

In addition, beds are mainly bunk beds. Our YH also provide them, so if it is twin room, it means 1 bunk bed.
